I have really bad eyesight. I mean, really bad. I am actually considered legally blind wihout my glasses. I have been wearing glasses and/or contacts since I was 14, but probably should have been using them sooner. Actually, when I think of how my brother and I used to squint or pull our eyes slanted so we could focus in class, I realize we should have gotten glasses much sooner.
So after years of contemplation, I have decided to get laser eye surgery.
I was planning on getting LASIK, but I am so deformed and messed up, that I have to settle for PRK. If you want to know the difference, read here. The main difference for me is that I now need several days to recover from surgery, as opposed to only one day recovery.
However, having the supportive family that I do; they are clearing schedules, taking time off and planning to take care of me and The Boys so I can get this done. And since this surgery is not covered by insurance, we are especially thankful for Hubby's incredible work ethic and ability to save money.
Surgery is May 30. I'll only be at the Surgery Center for 2 hours, with a follow up the next day. Then there'll be a series of appointments to make sure everything is clicking along.
Yeah - I'm pretty excited. Unless you know what it's like to have to feel around for your glasses just to go to the bathroom at night, or read the clock, or even see who you're talking too, you can't possibly uderstand what a difference this will make.
Wish me luck!
